For the second consecutive year, GenAI is the fastest-growing skill on Coursera. To support learners at every level, from beginners to experts, our partners published over 450 courses in 2024, expanding our catalog by 6x.
Since the launch of ChatGPT, these courses have amassed over 4 million enrollments.
Below is a snapshot of the latest GenAI content launched by leading partners over the past three months.
New GenAI content from leading universities
Professor Jules White of Vanderbilt University, who has instructed more than 500,000 students in more than 30 courses, presented cutting-edge material on using GenAI to automate processes like project management and meal planning. The University of Michigan, which was Coursera’s first partner to introduce a GenAI course, is another pioneer in the subject and is adding additional courses on applying GenAI in a variety of disciplines, including the legal and creative sectors.The University of Glasgow expanded its resources for teachers and students by introducing role-specific content to support these initiatives.

New GenAI content from leading companies
Leading instructors are launching new GenAI courses on Coursera, beginning with AI Python for Beginners by Andrew Ng, which teaches anyone how to code with LLMs regardless of prior knowledge. The renowned Learning How to Learn teacher, Dr. Barb Oakley, has published her first courses on GenAI. Google Cloud, the company that offers the majority of the GenAI courses on Coursera (178), is also adding new courses on AI app development and translated versions of well-known courses to its collection. Last but not least, IBM is assisting students in developing their careers by introducing a new entry-level Generative AI Engineering Professional Certificate and revising its advanced engineering certificate to assist seasoned engineers in improving their GenAI abilities.
